The Big Catch: Tacklebox is a slick low poly 3D platforming adventure with a focus on tight expressive player movement as an acrobatic fisherman sets out to save a restaurant. A standalone prologue to the upcoming The Big Catch game, Tacklebox is a classic N64 era inspired 3D platformer where a fisherman attempts to catch tasty ingredients for a struggling restaurant (called The Big Catch). You can run fast and jump as in any self-respecting platformer, but being a fisherman you also have something else up your sleeve – a fishing rod that you can use to hook onto things (such as bombs, features or structures to swing from). Add to that an assortment of wall-wunning, grinding, sliding and climbing, and you have a very mobile character that’s a joy to control. The introductory tutorial area could do with a little work as there’s a lot to take in, but once you get going it’s a great game with fluid movement, fun level design and clever use of its fishing rod mechanics. Your little fisherman can really move

Metal Slug Tactics is an isometric turn-based tactics game with roguelite elements, which takes place in the Metal Slug universe. In Metal Slug Tactics you will command iconic characters from the Metal Slug series as they go out on tactical missions to thwart Morden’s plans. The turn-based tactical gameplay is similar to X-Com, with your characters able to move and perform actions once per turn. It also has a roguelite progression system, environmental destruction and the ability to use environmental objects to your advantage (such as dropping explosive barrels on the enemy). It’s not quite as easily accessible as X-Com, but it’s got plenty of character, the pixel art animation is superb and it’s nice to be back in the Metal Slug universe. God knows when we’ll get an actual Metal Slug game, but Metal Slug Tactics certainly scratches that itch a little.

Old School Rally is a good old fashioned Colin McRae Rally style arcade racing game, complete with crunchy retro visuals and moderately legally distinct classic rally vehicles. The rally racing gameplay in Old School Rally is very much like 90s classics Sega Rally, Colin McRae Rally and V-Rally. The demo features three drivable vehicles, and three tracks (Australia, Finland and Sweden) playable in Time Trial mode. The handling is a little on the slippery side at the moment, and it requires a little finesse to take corners (so more like McRae than Sega Rally). The visual and audio design is excellent, delivering a very fresh looking retro style, and the three different tracks do a great job of showing off the various terrain you’ll be racing through. A great bit of old school rallying fun!
